The MAC Electric Cool Collection Plugs Into Maximum Color and High Voltage Frost - Makeup and Beauty Blog
These new $22 MAC Electric Cool Eye Shadows are electric!
But no…not literally electric. You do not have to plug them in, nor will you experience a jolt if you impact one of the springy, soft pans with your finger, but wouldn't that exist weird if it actually happened?
Oddly, I tin can come across it existence a thing someday in the not-too-distant future — women paying skilful money to get mildly electrocuted by their eyeshadow — considering, I mean, people already pay to put snail slime on their faces, so getting zapped by an eyeshadow isn't much of a jump.
In this case, though, by "electric," I'g referring to intense pigment and frost; in other words, a whole lotta fun. 🙂
Yous might remember this family of shadows from A Novel Romance final year, within which were eight Electric Cool Centre Shadows (a few of which reappear here), and I gauge MAC deemed them worthy of a comeback, because they're dorsum in their ain 16-piece express edition collection, and it'south available now on the MAC website and coming to MAC stores and counters August 6 through September 17.
So, watt (go it?) are they?
Sorry. Couldn't aid it. 🙂
Much like Chanel'southward Illusion D'Ombre cream shadows, they have a soft, springy texture, and when you press down on them, they really bounciness back! The formula isn't quite a foam or a powder; it's something in between.
There are sixteen shades in the release, some of which are re-promotes from A Novel Romance (frosty white rose Love Power, light shimmery taupe Superwatt, coppery bronze Curlicue, rich cobalt Switch to Blue and rich purple with pinkish pearl Highly charged), and the others are new (pearly white Iced, bright silver Electric Illumination, soft gold Photosphere, low-cal warm neutral In Orbit, slate gray Electroplate, coppery neutral Gravitational, lime Brilliantly Lit, peach Dynamo, magenta Infra-Violet, emerald green Emerald Ability and black with green pearl Black Sands).
With these, how glittery, frosty and pigmented they are varies. Some of the lighter neutral ones are like what I call "glitter topcoats," because they're essentially pots of glitter without a lot of paint, and they're for pressing on meridian of finished heart looks to add actress sparkle.
And and so some of the brighter shades similar Switch to Blue and Emerald Power are more pigmented but less glittery and frosty, and then there'southward some diverseness.
I think if there's a trick to actually rocking these, it's to stay far, far away from domed or tapered fluffy brushes for applying them.
For blending, aye, fluffy brushes seem fine, but for application, at least for me, they but sort of scoot the shadows around. I was getting frustrated with how little of the actual product I was getting on my lids until I figured it out (boo-hoo sorry panda).
A brush with a flat, compact brush head like a MAC 242 or a 239 — or improve notwithstanding, a finger — seems to work much better with these. I like using my fingers to apply them because I can actually get into the pots and pick upwardly a lot of product. Then I employ directly to my lids using a pressing, instead of a swiping, motion (and, of course, clean fingers, ya filthy creature!).
After you place the color on your lids, then go dorsum in with a blending castor to gently buff out the edges, but it should be So easy to practise because these Electric Cools go mega props for easy blending.
Oh, and ya know what? I don't use primer with these. Fifty-fifty on my combination oily/dry lids (ugh, I feel like a broken record whenever I blazon that, but it'due south truthful!), these shadows last 8 or nine hours with very little movement or fading.
If yous're curious about these and desire to start with one, first figure out if yous'd rather get a glittery emphasis shade that you can apply to add dimension to your looks, or if y'all'd rather get a new workhorse color with lots of paint.
For more of a glittery topcoat accent, check out the lighter shades, only if y'all're looking for more of an everyday workhorse color, go for the deeper neutrals and brights.
Whatever yous exercise, go along 'em out of your bottomless makeup bag (the one that'due south always overloaded with products), because they're pretty frail (detect the few busted pans?).
OK, one last rand-o matter! — I'chiliad looking at the eyeshadows from the new MAC Electric Absurd drove and trying really, REALLY hard not to think about the electric slide.
Oh, terminate that sh*t! Don't fifty-fifty pretend like you don't know what the electric slide is. It'due south a staple at all Filipino parties (especially weddings), where the DJ always plays the electric slide vocal (I can't remember what it'due south called, merely when you hear information technology, you MUST respond), and when he/she does, it'due south like a herd of buffalo equally everyone heads to the dance floor.
I'thou serious, don't even attempt to resist the dance-inducing power of the electric slide. 🙂
Information technology's electric!
